Intro

Shelly's FB Post from 8/19/2010 went like this:

"So, we were thinking of moving to Mars... but we decided to just adopt a couple of kids from the Ukraine instead. Surprised? So are we!!! Met them Monday night and began adoption process on Wed. Said goodbye at the airport today (Thursday) - hope to have them home in time for spring. ARE WE CCRRAAAZZZYYY OR WHAT!?!?!?!?!"

8/19/2010 -- Eugene, Shelly, Lera (12.5) and Vitalik(14) at the airport as they were heading back to Ukraine.  We had met them only a few days earlier, and this was our first visit since they had been told of our intention to adopt.  The word on their shirts is Russian for "HOPE" - with God's help, we HOPE to have them home in time for spring.

So now that we are about a month into this surprising adventure, it feels necessary to create some sort of record of this experience. With a combined age of 80, Eugene and I are not expert bloggers, but I'll attempt to learn as I go. :o)
